FMG-CrashGame
Objectives
Hope for the best and be prepared for the worst is the maxim of prudent entrepreneurs, not only in the current economic crisis. They develop worst-case scenarios in order to immunize themselves as far as possible, for reasons of simple rationality and responsibility rather than pessimism. Thinking through potential surprises and contingency strategies is not a sign of weakness, but a sign of strength and wisdom. You want to go significantly beyond conventional risk management, which generally does not go far enough or deep enough in practice.
Nowadays, you know better than ever before, that you can lose fifty percent or more of your turnover within five weeks. Although unlikely, it can never be completely ruled out – the only certain thing about the future is surprise. You want to ensure the livelihood of your employees and are looking for answers to questions such as these:
- Which worst-case scenarios are imaginable?
- How seriously would we be affected if the worst-case actually occurred?
- Which worst-case scenarios do we need to immunize ourselves against?
- How can we immunize ourselves against the worst case, as far as realistically possible?
- Which offensive opportunities can we recognize in the worst-case scenarios, in addition to defensive opportunities?
Solution
The FMG-CrashGame simulates several worst-case scenarios, from massive damage to your reputation, sudden massive changes in customer behavior or the loss of essential resources, to the collapse of the currency system. The hardest imaginable effects of the scenarios are determined.
Through the methods, tools and mental aids, which we have developed from numerous cases, the CrashGame results in a range of possible strategies and measures to protect and immunize your company.
You must and can be sure that you have done everything possible and feasible to survive future crises unharmed or at least considerably better than your competitors. The FMG-CrashGame generates the certainty and the reassuring feeling that you have done all humanly possible to prevent something happening to your company that would endanger its very existence.
Procedure
- Together, we carry out a vulnerability analysis of your business to determine the sore points of your business.
- Based on our database of potential surprises, we develop between ten and thirty worst-case scenarios specifically for your business that we illustrate and make plausible in words and images.
- In the FMG-CrashGame, which we carry out with several teams in competition with each other, we complete and expand the prepared worst-case scenarios and then carry out an itemized vulnerability analysis. You and your employees evaluate the impacts of the occurrence of each individual scenario.
- In the subsequent stage of the FMG-CrashGame, the teams develop preventative and acute contingency strategies for the scenarios with the greatest impact, using a range of methods, tools and mental aids provided by us.
- The contingency strategies to immunize your company are evaluated and prioritized by effectiveness and other criteria, resulting in a concrete program of work.
- In a closing conference of all involved, we jointly evaluate the competing teams’ results and present the award to the winning team.
- We document all the results of the FMG-CrashGame.
- A few days after the FMG-CrashGame we meet for a workshop to advise you how to use and implement the results.
