FMG-WarGame
Objectives
You already know a lot about your competitors, but you also know that the borders and the rules of competition could and will change in the future. You just don’t exactly know how. You would like to reduce the dangerous blind spots in your management’s and employees’ attention and would therefore like to answer questions such as these:
- Which potential scenarios of situations, competitive attacks and events are imaginable in future competition?
- In which areas and in which way are we vulnerable with our current strategy and structure?
- What can and must we do to secure our competitive position and even our existence?
- How can we convert the threats and risks into opportunities?
Solution
The FMG-WarGame simulates a series of dynamic competitive scenarios. You and your employees defend yourselves against attacks and strategic moves by your strongest competitors, both the current ones and those who may only appear in the future. In changing roles, we analyze the consequences of the attacks and develop counterstrategies and countermeasures for your own attacks and opportunities in the future competitive landscape.
Compared with conventional WarGames, the FMG-WarGame leads you to a much greater number of potential attacks and surprises and thus also future opportunities.
Procedure
- Together, we determine the current and potential (virtual) competitors, whose potential attacks and strategic moves are to be considered in the FMG-WarGame. We develop well researched strategic profiles of the competitors and focus on aspects such as their objectives, strategies and values, in addition to quantitative data.
- For the work in the workshops, we prepare the most important trends in the areas of influence market, economy, technology, society and politics. In addition, we prepare mental aids concerning possible attacks and strategic moves of the competitors and typical defense strategies.
- We prepare a methodology adapted to your objectives and questions and brief the group moderators. If you prefer to work with your own moderators, we efficiently train them for this purpose for the FMG-WarGame.
- In the FMG-WarGame, we use effective empathy methods and the competitor profiles to put you into the situation, the strategy, the thinking and the values of your current and potential competitors. In several moves, you develop aggressive attacks and strategic moves against your own company.
- You change roles several times and then take on your real identity again each time in order to assess the effects of the competitor attacks and develop countermeasures and strategies. At the same time, you recognize that you could already use many of your competitors’ potential moves as an opportunity for your company now.
- In a closing conference of all those involved we jointly assess the dangerousness of the potential attacks and the appropriateness of the defensive measures and the size of the recognized opportunities and present the awards to the winners of the FMG-WarGame.
- We document all the results of the FMG-WarGame.
- A few days after the FMG-WarGame we meet for a workshop to advise you how to use and implement the results.
